Document Description
The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing heating and cooling system in the Jack Douglas Saloon at Columbia State Historic Park to an energy efficient and more effective mini-split system to provide sufficient climate control for the concessionaire and park visitors. Work will:
• Remove the existing propane furnace and cap off the propane line and chimney vent;
• Remove the existing evaporative cooler from rooftop, and cap off duct opening;
• Dead-end the existing water line;
• Near the site where the old cooler was located, install pressure treated 2x4s;
• Place an exterior compressor/condenser unit on 2x4s;
• In the attic space, install the evaporator head where the furnace was located;
• Run refrigerant and electric service lines from the evaporator head through the furnace vent to the compressor unit; and
• In the attic above kitchen, run output air ducting to the existing swamp cooler ducting and to an existing vent at the south-west corner of the kitchen ceiling; and
• Run return ducting to an existing heater vent and to a vent at the north-west corner of the kitchen ceiling
All ducting to be ran in the attic out of sight with no new penetrations through the roof, ceiling, or walls.
