Document Description
The Project will rehabilitate two existing storm drain outfall pipes that discharge into Belmont Slough in Redwood City, San Mateo County. The two two 48-inch diameter HDPE culvert pipe outfalls are buried at an elevation of -4.0 feet and filled with mud. They will be replaced, shortened, and raised approximately 7 feet in an effort to avoid routine dredging and flushing to maintain flow capacity and reduce associated environmental impacts. The existing north and south outfalls are approximately 1,200 linear feet (lf) apart and extend through vegetated pickleweed tidal marsh and tidal mudflats. The Project sites are bordered by Belmont Slough to the north and is adjacent to a flood protection levee that contains a public pathway as part of the San Francisco Bay Trail. Following construction, temporary sheet piles will be removed, excess bay mud will be disposed of offsite at an upland location, and all temporary impacts will be returned to pre-project conditions or better.
