Document Description
The project proposes to expand and modernize the Westbound (WB) side of the Desert Oasis Safety Roadside Rest Area (SRRA) on Interstate (I)-40, in San Bernardino County. Work would include the demolition of existing restroom and parking facilities and replacing them with larger restroom facilities and expanded parking, adding a maintenance crew office, replacing existing picnic shelters with new ones, and upgrading the water and wastewater systems. Landscape mounding and placement of gravel mulch would be installed over and around an existing PG&E 34" diameter gas line on the southern side of the rest area to deter truck parking over the line. Shade trees and other landscaping would be installed throughout the pedestrian core.
