Document Description
The proposed project would repair 14 outboard (waterside) erosion sites on McCormack-Williamson Tract (MWT), a North Delta island. The repairs are proposed to address existing erosion, protect existing infrastructure, maintain MWT access, reduce the risk of uncontrolled breaches, and protect investments that the Department of Water Resources and Reclamation District 2110have made on MWT. The erosion repair sites are along the outboard perimeter of MWT at Dead Horse Cut, Snodgrass Slough, Lost Slough, and the East Levee, ranging from 50 to 250 feet in length. These erosion repair sites would be repaired to address bank loss, toe scour, and erosion. The repairs would entail flattening the waterside levee slope, placing imported riprap to re-establish the bank slope and channel, and constructing a toe berm. To address vegetation effects from erosion repairs and result in no net loss of sensitive or protected habitat, in-water planting benches would be constructed onsite as part of the proposed project. The repairs would entail placing material within the original configuration of the levees before erosion and following the current standard of practice for rural levee erosion repairs.
