Document Description
The project will replace the existing Canyon Subdivision Milepost 264.53 Bridge, which consists of a 111-foot-long, 36-inch-diameter corrugated metal pipe culvert. The existing bridge must be replaced because UPRR inspections have identified a bowing ceiling, buckled floor, corrosion, and other defects indicating that routine maintenance can no longer extend the safe operational condition of this bridge. The existing structure will be replaced with a 120-foot-long, 60-inch-diameter smooth steel pipe culvert that will be horizontally auger bored (jack and bored) through the existing railroad embankment approximately 6 feet east of and parallel to the existing culvert. Following construction of the replacement culvert, the existing culvert will be grouted and abandoned in place.
