Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project involves negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, will be located on the same site, will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the existing facilities, and will not increase student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms or at any school site. It is not of statewide, regional, or areawide significance, and none of the exceptions to exemption apply. The proposed project activities fall under the Class 1, 2, and 14 CEQA categorical exemptions. CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301 (Minor Alteration of Existing Facilities), 15302 (Replacement orReconstruction of Existing Structures), and 15314 (Minor Additions to Schools} provide the applicable categorical exemptions. The proposed upgrade and modernization activities involve negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, and would not increase student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms at any school site. The Project is not of statewide, regional, or areawide significance, per criteria in CEQA Guidelines Section 15206. Exceptions (CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2) do not apply to the exemption. (a) The Project site is not in a sensitive environment that is mapped or adopted by federal, state, or local law. (b) The District does not propose any successive projects of the same type in the same place, over time at the Project site. (c) There are no unusual circumstances related to the Project hat could cause a significant environmental effect. (d) The Project sites are not near any scenic highways. (e) The Project sites are not on a list compiled pursuant to Government Code Section 65962.5. m The Project sites are not a historical resource.
