In general, the work consists of constructing curb bulb-out pedestrian crossing improvements at the intersection of Market Street and Bird Street to reduce pedestrian crossing distance and provide traffic calming by narrowing the roadway. Work includes removal of existing striping, concrete, and pavement; installation of a new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (HAWK) signal system with pedestrian push buttons; construction of new ADA-compliant curb ramps and bulb-outs; installation of electrical equipment pads; pavement restoration; and installation of new traffic signs and pavement striping.
