Document Description
The storm event that occurred in December 2025 caused extensive damage to the northwest abutment of the bridge. As a result of the high storm flows, erosion occurred at the abutment, exposing three steel beam piles and compromising the structural stability of the bridge. The purpose of this emergency project is to repair the damaged abutment, restore structural integrity, and reopen the bridge to the public as soon as practicable. The proposed work will consist of repairing the scoured abutment foundation through the installation of rock slope protection to stabilize the area, prevent further erosion, and protect the exposed piles from future storm events. These repairs are necessary to ensure the long-term safety and functionality of the bridge and to prevent additional damage during future storm events.
