Document Description
The Project involves the renovation of the field, and surrounding area, located on the existing campus of Soquel Elementary School ("Elementary School") in the unincorporated portion of County of Santa Cruz. Specifically, the Project consists of the conversion of the existing grass field to an artificial turf surface and the installation of a track and scoreboard. The Project also includes the installation of an amphitheater and shade structure. Related site work, minor grading, landscaping, utilities and related improvements are also part of the Project scope. The Project does not contemplate any new uses of the Elementary School. This Project will provide enhanced safety conditions and accessibility for users of the field and will generally benefit District students and the local community. The Elementary School campus and field will have substantially the same purpose and capacity upon the completion of the Project.

Class 1 (Sec. 15301): The proposed Project includes the minor alteration, i.e., modernization, of
existing facilities on the existing campus, and involves negligible or no expansion of existing or former
use. Class 2 (Sec. 15302): The proposed Project includes the replacement or reconstruction of existing
facilities on the same site. Class 3 (Sec. 15303): The proposed Project includes the construction of
small facilities and structures. Class 4 (Sec. 15304): The proposed Project includes the minor
alteration of the condition of land without the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees. Class 11 (Sec.
15311): The proposed Project includes the construction or placement of minor structures accessory to
existing facilities. Class 14 (Sec. 15314): The proposed Project would be located within an existing
school campus, and will not increase original student capacity by more than 10 classrooms or 25
percent. Class 23 (Sec. 15323): The proposed Project consists of the normal operations of existing
facilities for public gatherings for which the facilities were designed. Common Sense Exemption: It can
be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the proposed Project involves any activity that
may have a significant effect on the environment.
