Document Description
Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT) will replace the existing damaged curb, gutter and sidewalk within the stated limits. Construction of the project includes removal and replacement of 2,870 lineal feet of curb and gutter as well as 6,610 feet of sidewalk. Additional work includes pavement restoration per county standards and reconstruction of the asphalt concrete next to the curb and gutter. The depth of work is approximately one (1) foot deep for removal of the existing curb and gutter, and ten inches deep for removal of existing sidewalk. All elements of the project will be within the existing right-of-way, and no new impervious surface will be installed.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, and minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Subsection C includes existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities, and other alterations that do not create additional automobile lanes. The project consists of the replacement of deteriorated or damaged curb, gutter, and sidewalk to meet current standards of public health and safety. The project will be completed within the existing road rights-of-way and will not require the removal of structures, vegetation, or trees. The project will result in the continued use of the existing facilities with little or no expansion of use and is therefore exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
