Document Description
The City of Chico proposes to replace the existing sewer mains in the neighborhood located between Mountain View Avenue, Vallombrosa Avenue, and Madrone Avenue. The existing sewer mains will be replaced with 8-inch DR-17 HDPE sewer pipe and be reconnected to existing laterals. Approximately 1,700 feet of sewer main will be replaced using a pipe bursting technique. The removal of up to approximately 14 trees, mostly in public utility easements located over private property, is expected. Temporary Construction Easements will be required.

Reasons for Exemption
The project involves improvements and replacement of existing facilities. The project involves negligible or no increase in capacity and serves built-out land uses. The project area has been previously disturbed, is located in urbanized areas, and includes replacement of existing utility systems. There are no unusual circumstances leading to a reasonable possibility that significant environmental impacts will result from the project. Therefore, the City finds that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in accordance with CEQA Section 15302 (c).
