Reasons for Exemption
Section 15314 allows school facility additions to existing schools where the addition does not increase original student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms, whichever is less. The Tahoe Valley Elementary School Modernization project serves the existing student population by replacing nine existing portable classrooms with a permanent facility that includes six classrooms. No increase in student population in excess of 25% of the original student capacity will occur and the project would replace classrooms currently held in portable buildings with a permanent facility. Therefore, the project qualifies for this exemption.
