Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), using State funds only,
proposes to replace the existing Traffic Monitoring Systems on Interstate (I)-8, State
Route (SR) 125, and SR-163 in San Diego County at various post miles. The existing
TMS has reached its end-of-life. The components are prone to failures and new
equipment is necessary to meet current directives and policies. The scope of work
includes resetting the Lifecycle of Traffic Monitoring Systems and replacing 2070
controllers.

Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Caltrans has determined that this project would have negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, and would have no significant effect on the environment.
