Document Description
Caltrans proposes a project in San Diego County to reset the census system and replace the existing loop detection system in three locations: I-8 at post mile 1.213, I-52 at post mile 0.324, and I-78 at post mile 19.094. The existing Census system has reached its end-of-life. The components are prone to failures and new equipment are necessary to meet current directives and policies. The Census system is deemed necessary to be replaced to reset its life cycle and to comply with SB-1 mandate. The work would consist of electrical work on the controller cabinets and excavation to replace the loop detection system, which would occur all within the road base and existing cabinet foundations.
