Document Description
Caltrans proposes to reset the life cycle of the Census System at three locations (#688, #988, #995) along I-8 and Winterhaven Drive in far eastern Imperial County, CA, and near Yuma, AZ. The project work consists of removing the existing controller, salvaging equipment, installing new 334LS controller cabinets, EMU3B counter traffic monitoring system, and replacing the existing loop detection system. The existing Census System has reached its end-of-life cycle, as the components are prone to failure and new equipment is necessary to meet current directives and policies. The Census system is deemed necessary to be replaced to reset its life cycle and to comply with the SB-1 Mandate. All work is within State Right of Way.
