Document Description
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is in the process of transitioning its entire bus fleet – approximately 2,050 directly operated and 156 contractor-operated buses – and 10 operating divisions from compressed natural gas (CNG) to zero emission technologies. The Division 7 Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) Charging Infrastructure Project (Project) will provide zero emission bus charging infrastructure at the Division 7 Bus Maintenance Facility and would upgrade Division 7 to support the change from CNG to zero emission technologies by implementing new charging positions.

Reasons for Exemption
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) (Public Resources Code Section 21000, et. seq.) (Senate Bill [SB] 922 Exemption—added January 1, 2023) establishes statutory exemptions (SEs) from its provisions for certain types of projects. Projects that fit within the limits of the SE are excluded from the requirements of CEQA. Under the SB 922 SE, a construction analysis would not be required for this Project; however, as defined in SB 922, all significant impacts must be mitigated during construction.
