Document Description
The proposed Project consists if the approval and award aof a five year contract for the operation and maintenance of vending machines. There are currently 43 vending machines serving various parks and recreation centers within the City of Los Angeles, offering beverages and snacks, including some healthy options. As the contract with the current vendor is expired, the Department of Recreation and Parks released a request for proposal for a new 5 year contract with the possibility of a 5 year renewal. The concessionaire will furnish, operate, and maintain credit card capable beverage and snack vending machines on a year-round basis at various locations throughout the City and provide and install all equipment to create an inviting and profitable vending concession. The concessionaire will stock all vending machines in accordance with all current and future RAP Vending Machine Nutrition and Environmental Guidelines.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project consists of replacing vending machines, stocking and maintaining them. Article 5, Section 15061(b)(5) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) State Guidelines exempts from CEQA activities where it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment. The replacement of old with new vending machines cannot have any significant impact on the environment.
