Document Description
The project consists of removal of post fire woody debris including standing and downed dead trees. The project area is ~1260 acres in size and entails cutting down many of the remaining standing dead trees, and using mechanical equipment to pile woody debris, that will then be pile burned on site or chipped and transported off-site. Some post fire snags will be left standing to provide habitat for wildlife.

The proposed project qualifies for a Categorical Exemption under CEQA Guidelines Section 15304 and 15308. Section 15304, Class 4 consists of minor alterations of vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, or scenic trees on public or private land. The project involves removal of dead woody debris only.
Section 15308, Class 8 consists of actions taken by regulatory agencies for maintenance, restoration, enhancement, or protection of the environment. The project would allow for maintenance and protection of the environment. The project would not result in construction activities or environmental degradation.
