Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, the proposed project is exempt under Section 15301 “Existing Facilities.” CEQA Section 15301 specifically exempts projects which involve “negligible or no expansion of an existing use.” The proposed project falls under this Class 1 exemption for existing facilities because the addition will not result in a floor area increase of 2,500 square feet or 50% of the floor area of the structures before the addition.
