Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has issued an ITP (No. 2081(b)-2026-034-04), pursuant to Section 2081(b) of the Fish and Game Code to Kern High School District.
The Project involves take authorization of San Joaquin kit fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica, SJKF) in association with the demolition of the existing Vista High School and movement of the campus to the northwest portion of the site, with the varsity baseball field location remaining as-is, and the other three fields being reconstructed to the east side of the site. The Project site is within the range of SJKF and is known to support individuals of the species.
The Project will result in permanent impacts to 1.1 acres of SJKF habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of SJKF, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
