15301 Class 1 – Existing Facilities
Reasons for Exemption
The project consists of minor improvements at an existing facility, involves negligible or no expansion of the existing use, and will replace the roofing, gutters, and downspouts on five buildings within the Veterans Home of California, including the Armistice Chapel, Lincoln Hall, Washington Hall, Wilson Hall and Lincoln Theater. The Veterans Home of California Historic District was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and is included on the Master List of state-owned historic resources. Armistice Chapel, Lincoln Hall, Washington Hall, and Wilson Hall are contributors to the District, and Armistice Chapel is also individually listed in the NRHP. The Lincoln Theater is not listed in or eligible for listing in the NRHP. SHPO agrees that the Project, as proposed, is in conformance with the Secretary of the Interior Standards and will not adversely affect the historic resources. No ground disturbance is anticipated. The State has confirmed no exceptions to the exemption apply.
