Document Description
The County is proposing to repair steep cut slopes caused by erosion occurring after winter 2023 rain events along three different rural roads in San Luis Obispo County. The project prosposes to install soil nail walls at five sites to prevent further facility damage and restore road access for public safety. The project would also restore native riparian vegetation that was disturbed by the storm events and subsequent erosion. The Proposed Project would repair the roadway and associated embankment failure that were damaged during the declared disaster winter storms of 2023, and would reestablish the facility to pre-disaster conditions.

The project consists of the operation, repair or maintenance of existing public structures involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Examples include existing streets that do not create additional automobile lanes (c); and addition of safety protection devices in conjunction with existing structures (f). During review of the project, no exceptions as described in Section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines were determined to be applicable. The project also includes construction of soil nail walls, an accessory structure to support the existing roadway facility {15303(e)}.
