Document Description
Project proposes to replace road inlets and culvert at the Morro Strand Campground entrance road at Morro Strand State Park to allow for safe and continued use of the campground by the public. Work will:
Remove a 1,220 sq. ft. section of the asphalt entrance road and the two (2) existing drain inlets on the land-side of the road and excavate to remove the failed culvert;
Install a new 66-foot-long x 12-in. diameter reinforced concrete drainage pipe with a flared end section at the outlet (ocean) side;
Install two (2) 18-in. x 18-in. concrete inlet boxes on the landside of the road and connect drainage path to new concrete drain pipe;
Use previously excavated soils to cover the drainpipe and secure the inlets in place;
Excavate approx. 4-feet and key in aggregate base material with biaxial fabric to reconstruct the pavement edge;
Use approximately 4-in. AC on 16-in. to repair/improve entrance road; and
Form an AC dike on the ocean side of the road to channel any excess runoff down to flatter slopes less prone to erosion.

Project consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels, and is included as “Utility repairs or minor upgrades: and “Trail or road repairs” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4; replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced; construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
