Document Description
Project proposes to replace the badly worn and leaking roof on the Trask House garage in Columbia State Historic Park to allow for the continued use of the garage for storage of records and supplies for the district office, located in the Trask House itself. Work will: • Remove the existing cedar shingles; • Use in-kind materials to repair as needed: soffits, flashing, rafters, joists, and rafter tails; • Cover the existing 1-in.x 4-in. skip sheeting with ½-in. OSB plywood; • Install ½-in x 4-in. painted cedar at the exposed ends; • Install a new rubber underlayment and cover with a layer of nylon cedar breather; • Install new white-colored metal drip edge at eaves; • Install new in-kind 16-in. Class B fire-rated cedar shingles; • On the interior, remove any damaged drywall and replace with new drywall; and • Tape, mud, sand, and paint new drywall to match the existing ceiling color.

Project consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels and the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced and is listed as “Reroofing” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4; and consists of projects limited to maintenance, repair, stabilization, rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, conservation or reconstruction of historical resources, in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing Historic Buildings (1995), Weeks and Grimmer.
