Document Description
Caltrans proposes a Highway Maintenance Project which includes the following scope of work: 1) RHMA (Gap graded) overlay (and grind at old/non-compliant guardrails) in both directions from post-mile (PM) 17.7 to R20.99, 2) slurry seal type II in both directions from R20.99 to 24.2, 3) crack treatment, shoulder backing, digouts, 3) high visibility crosswalks, and 4) roadside signs throughout Route 23 from PM 17.7 to 24.2 in Ventura County. The purpose of this project is to preserve the existing pavement and extend the service life of the project segment through slurry seal and overlay, digouts, crack treatment, and shoulder backing. The need for the project is to address pavement deterioration, maintenance of segments in good condition, crosswalk upgrades to improve safety, providing a right edge line for a short segment, and installation of roadside signs as part of Complete Streets enhancements. Excavation (hand digging) is proposed to a maximum depth of 6 feet. No public utilities will be relocated, and no new right-of way will be acquired for the project.
