Document Description
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA) and Alaska Airlines will expand and renovate the existing lounge on the second level of Terminal 2 East. The lounge space, currently approximately 5,100 square feet, will be increased by approximately 8,200 square feet, resulting in a total area of roughly 13,300 square feet. A new egress staircase to ground level will be added west of the lounge and an existing egress staircase near the passenger hallway will be reconfigured. Structural enhancements, including new pilings, will be installed to support the expanded lounge.

The proposed project is located in the southwest portion of San Diego International Airport within Terminal 2 East. The proposed project consists of an expansion of an existing lounge which is a clubroom use as designated in the Airport Master Plan adopted in 2008 and the Airport Development Plan adopted in 2020. The proposed use is consistent with the adopted master plans.

The types of “existing facilities” itemized below are not intended to be all-inclusive of the types of projects which might fall within Class 1. The key consideration is whether the project involves negligible or no expansion of use. The project would consist of an addition to the existing structure of less than 10,000 square feet in an area where all public services and facilities are available to allow for maximum development permissible in the General Plan and is not environmentally sensitive (the project site is currently paved).
