Document Description
The Sierra Resource Conservation District (SRCD), acting as the Lead Agency, will implement fuel reduction, burning, reforestation and stream restoration activities to improve the protection of communities, the watershed and public and private lands from fire and post fire while protecting environmental, natural, and cultural resources. The project will reduce fuel loads around structures in the Auberry area with the goal of enhancing and expanding defensible space to protect infrastructure in high-hazard fuel zones. Planned treatments include hand cutting and chipping as well as machine work for dead and hazardous trees, brush, and small trees. This project will also include habitat restoration activities aimed at benefiting local wildlife and ecosystems while ensuring no negative environmental impact. Stream restoration efforts will focus on rehabilitating post fire riparian habitats and stabilizing streambeds, providing critical support for species and improving water quality. Project will also include pile burning, broadcast burning, cultural burning and reforestation This project will not engage in commercial timber operations as defined by Public Resource Code: 4527.
