Document Description
Pursuant to California Public Utilities Commission Decision 19-11-017, as mandated by AB 1083 (Charge Ready Parks), and agreed upon by a master agreement between the California Department of Parks and Recreation and Southern California Edison (SCE), this project proposes site and electrical infrastructure improvements for the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) by SCE and/or its subcontractors in the existing day use parking lot along Sandyland Rd. The purpose of this project is to support the usage of electric vehicles by providing charging locations in State Parks and will contribute to the State’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Eleven existing standard parking stalls and one existing handicapped stall will be replaced with twelve stalls equipped with ten Level 2 and two Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) charging ports, including two ADA van stalls and one standard ADA parking stall, resulting in a net gain of two handicapped van stalls and a loss of one existing standard parking stall that is not expected to impact visitor services. Construction activities include minor excavation, trenching, and backfilling to install new equipment. During construction, a traffic and pedestrian safety control plan will ensure there are no impacts to visitor services. A right of entry permit will be issued to SCE and/or its subcontractors to complete the work. All applicable regulatory permits are required prior to the start of construction, and all work shall adhere to Departmental policies and standard best management practices to minimize impacts to sensitive resources. Measures to be implemented to avoid and minimize impact may be obtained by submitting a request to the project contact listed below.
