Document Description
A video inspection of the 6” diameter Schedule 80 PVC pipe dam drainage system found an obstruction that prevented the completion of the inspection. NID plans to dig a 20’ long 30” wide 10’ deep hole, approximately 145’ from the toe of the dam, with an excavator to reach the pipe. The section of pipe will be cut and removed, the drain line will be rebuilt with the PVC pipe, and the hole will be backfilled with the existing material. All work will be conducted within a pre-disturbed area, and no new ground material will be brought on site. Restoring full functionality of the drain line and ensuring proper inspection of the drainage blanket will benefit NID and the surrounding community by maintaining the stability and safety of the dam embankment and preventing potential erosion or structural failure. This work is planned to be completed before the end of 2025, weather and FERC approval dependent.
