Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego conducted an environmental review which determined
that the construction management professional services agreement for the Pump Station 1 Improvements and Modernization project Is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to
CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (Existing Facilities), which allows for the minor alteration of existing public structures, and Section 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction), which allows for the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as
the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, the construction management professional will perform technical engineering support, project management assistance, environmental compliance, design and construction oversight over the Pump Station 1
Improvements and Modernization project to rehabilitate wet wells and replace existing motor starters and liquid rheostats, suction gate valves, and suction pipes, all of which Involve either minor alteration to existing public, structures, negligible expansion of use, or replacement or reconstruction within the existing site. The exceptions
listed In CEQA Guidelines Section 15300,2 would not apply in that no cumulative Impacts were Identified, no significant effects on the environment were identified, the project Is not adjacent to a scenic highway, and no· historical resources would be affected by the action. R-316389
