Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SMO-55177-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Redwood City, Public Works Services Department as represented by Terence Kyaw. The Project involves “routine maintenance activities,” generally defined as periodic activities necessary to maintain the water transport capacity of Bayfront Canal. Maintenance activities include removal of overgrown cattail vegetation as well as trash and debris removal from 3,200 linear feet of a 6,400 linear-foot section of Bayfront Canal. Vegetation within the canal will be scooped using a crane and clam bucket and will be placed on top of the adjacent access road and levee to the north to dry. Once dried, it is loaded into trucks and hauled away as green waste. No heavy equipment (excavator, crane, etc.) will enter the canal at any time, and no dredging of sediment will be done with the clam bucket. Hand crews will manually remove vegetation and debris from areas the crane is unable to reach. All vegetative material, trash, and other debris will be bagged and hauled off-site for disposal.
