Document Description
The proposed project would seismically retrofit the Slauson Avenue Bridge to meet current Caltrans Bridge Design Specifications and Seismic Design Criteria. Retrofit measures include strengthening the abutment backwalls; infilling the double columns of Piers 2 through 5 with concrete; installing shear keys between girders and pier caps and on abutment walls; adding hinge seat extenders between deck spans (except Pier 6); and installing cable restrainers near Pier 2. No work is proposed at Piers 6 and 7, which were previously upgraded in 2017. Temporary detours would be required along the San Gabriel River Trail during construction. There is no ground disturbance associated with this project.
