Document Description
Minor alteration of a neighborhood park, D Street Linear Park, by removing an outdated pull-up bar and adding new fitness equipment, decomposed granite surfacing, trash cans, picnic table and an ADA-accessible entrance to a grassy area. The project will allow the City to provide additional fitness amenities to the neighborhood, near the Cal Poly campus. The existing open grassy areas of the park will remain accessible. The project benefits residents and students in the immediate neighborhood as well as the greater Arcata community.

Reasons for Exemption
The D Street Linear Park Fitness Equipment Expansion Project involves a combination of minor improvements to an existing park and maintenance activities. Outdated fitness equipment will be removed and the following new features installed: updated fitness equipment, surfacing, a bench, and ADA-accessible entrance. These improvements qualify for Class 4, Minor Alterations to Land (CEQA Guidelines Sec. 15304), which allows for the minor alterations in the condition of land that does not affect major vegetation or sensitive habitats. All elements of the project are within the existing footprint of the previously developed and mowed area of the D Street Linear Park.
