Document Description
The El Dorado Irrigation District (District) is proposing to excavate and restore an existing drainage ditch that is located around the perimeter of a restroom at the Pinecone Campground in Sly Park Recreation Area (SPRA). The purpose of the drainage ditch is to capture surface water during storm events and route it around the restroom to prevent flooding of the facility and/or infiltration of stormwater into the toilet tank. The drainage ditch has accumulated sediment and debris over time and no longer functions to redirect surface flow. The work activities would involve use of an excavator equipped with a hydraulic hammer, hand-held jackhammer, and hand tools to remove accumulated debris and restore the original flowline of the channel. The channel may be excavated up to 6 – 12 inches deep to allow the drainage ditch to be lined with 4-inch rock A drainage swale will be excavated and paved within the existing roadway adjacent to the restroom to allow proper drainage of stormwater runoff. The work will occur within the previously disturbed area immediately adjacent to the concrete pad that provides the foundation for the restroom and within the existing paved roadway. Excavated material will be removed from the site and dispersed at a suitable location within the SPRA. The work will be performed by District staff and is expected to occur over 3 – 5 days in the fall of 2025.
