Document Description
The project consists of rebuilding and/or restoring damaged critical components for an existing cooling tower at the existing South County Regional Center. The project also includes replacing fans, gear boxes, pumps, variable frequency drives, catch basin and other corroded parts. The project also involves repairing issues with blow down system and replacing corded fan's shaft hubs for each fan/tower cell in order to replace the fans' blades and hubs, The project also includes repairing in the condenser water pipe, and replacing high voltage fuses. All work is to be completed after hours and/or on weekends to minimize interruptions.

This project is categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15301, Existing Facilities as it involves alterations to an existing cooling tower within an existing County facility that involves no expansion of the existing or former use of the building. Further, no exceptions listed in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the project. Additionally, the project will not impact environmental resources of hazardous or critical concern that are designated, precisely mapped and officially adopted by government agencies; does not contribute to cumulative environmental impact; will not have a significant impact on the environment due to unusual circumstances; does not damage scenic resources within a designated state scenic highway; and is not on the list of Hazardous Waste and Substance Sites pursuant to Section 65962.5 of the Government Code.
