Document Description
The El Dorado Irrigation District (District) proposes to conduct maintenance on its water transmission system, including the replacement of a pressure reducing station (PRS) and two transmission mainline valve assemblies at three locations in El Dorado County, CA. Braden Court The District utilizes PRSs throughout the drinking water service area to maintain safe and manageable water pressure. The Braden Court PRS, constructed in 1982, has developed a breach in the valve housing and has reached the end of its service life. The project involves excavating and removing the existing PRS and underground vault, and replacing them with new PRS components housed in a prefabricated concrete vault. The area will be excavated to accommodate a new vault measuring approximately 7 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 6 feet deep. New pressure-reducing valves and appurtenances will be installed, along with approximately 40 feet of new 6-inch piping to connect to the existing distribution system. Carson Road The El Dorado Mainline No. 1 is a 24-inch transmission pipeline that supplies drinking water to the west slope of El Dorado County. To improve system reliability, this pipeline requires an isolation valve and an air release valve to allow for proper shutdown and maintenance. The project includes installing a butterfly valve, an air release valve assembly, and associated appurtenances. The pipeline will be excavated and shored as needed for the new valve installation. Following backfill and compaction, the air release valve vent will be installed aboveground, housed in a metal enclosure painted a neutral color, and the site will be graded to match preexisting contours. Gold Hill Road One of the valves isolating the intertie between the El Dorado Mainline No. 1 and No. 2 has failed and has reached the end of its service life. The project involves replacing the approximately 36-foot intertie including two isolation valves and an air release valve assembly. Work will include installing new 12-inch piping, two gate valves, an air release valve assembly, and associated appurtenances. The pipeline will be excavated and shored as needed for the valve installation. Following backfill and compaction, the air release valve vent will be installed aboveground, housed in a metal enclosure painted a neutral color, and the site will be graded to match preexisting contours. The project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026 and is expected to last approximately two months, with work occurring during normal business hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Construction equipment is anticipated to include a small excavator/backhoe, dump truck, loader, compactor, crew trucks, and miscellaneous hand and power tools. All construction debris generated by the project will be removed and disposed of in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Disturbed areas will be stabilized using appropriate best management practices for erosion control.
