Document Description
The Alameda County Public Works Agency is proposing crosswalk improvements at three intersections in Castro Valley in Alameda County. The intersection locations will be at Congress Way and Lake Chabot Road, Keith Avenue and Lake Chabot Road, and Redwood Road and Modesto Street. The project involves installing mast arm poles for pedestrian beacons and associated equipment (cabinet, conduits, pull box, wiring, signal heads, etc.); removing existing concrete curb and sidewalk and asphalt concrete paving and base; installing new curb ramps and paving; relocating utilities as needed; and modifying existing curb ramps to become ADA compliant. New storm drain inlets, pipes, and manhole will be installed at the Keith Avenue/Lake Chabot Road and Redwood Road/Modesto Street locations. There will be a curb extension and median installation at the Congress Way/Lake Chabot Road location. Utility relocations will occur at the Redwood Road/Modesto Street and Congress Way/Lake Chabot Road locations. Asphalt work will occur as needed at new ADA curb and ramps. The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian safety.
