Document Description
Mayoral approval to allow for the construction of a new, approximately 2,200-square-foot pump station building and demolition of the existing 1, 120-square-foot pump station building. The proposed project would include open-trench replacement of approximately 1,000 linear feet (0.19 miles) of existing 6-lnch storm drains with new 18-lnch storm drains. In addition, the project would include open-trench installation of approximately 200 linear feet (0.05 miles) of new 18-inch storm drams. Other improvements would include ornamental landscaping, permanent irrigation, fencing, retaining walls, a standby generator, and electrical and mechanical appurtenances for pump station operation. The project also proposes the installation of new and replacement curb ramps and street resurfacing.

Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego conducted an environmental review which determined that the project meets the categorical exemption criteria set forth in CEQA State Guidelines, Section 15301 (c) (Existing Facilities), which allows for the minor alteration of existing public structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, such as upgrades to existing curb ramps and street resurfacing; Section 15302(c) (Replacement or Reconstruction), which allows for the replacement of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, such as the replacement of an existing pump station building and existing storm drains; Section 15303(d) (New Construction), which allows for the construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures and the installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures, such as the installation of the standby generator and other electrical and mechanical appurtenances; Section 15304(b), and (f) (Minor Alterations to Land), which allows for the minor public alterations in the condition of land, water, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees, such as the installation of new landscaping, irrigation, ornamental fencing, retaining walls, and minor trenching for the installation and of pipes where the trench would be backfilled and the surface restored; and where the exceptions listed In Section 15300.2 would not apply. The project would implement paleontological resources monitoring for grading activities in accordance with San Diego Municipal Code Section 142.0151.
