Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SDO-54193-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Carlsbad.
The Project is limited to vegetation management within Agua Hedionda Creek between Cannon Road and El Camino Real bridges. The purpose of the Project is to improve flood capacity and reduce wildfire fuel loads by thinning and removing vegetation. Vegetation will be qualitatively monitored in August or September, after the peak vegetative growing season. Vegetation that is taller than 12 inches will be cut down to a maximum of four inches above grade, and overall understory vegetation of the site will be reduced to half of the site’s ground cover. A minimum of 10 willow trees comprise of black willow, red willow, and arroyo willow will be maintained at all times and will be limbed up to a minimum of six feet above grade. Vegetation will be removed by hand wherever possible.
