(JOC) LOWER SACRAMENTO ROAD CONCRETE REPAIR
Project Description
Project Location:
Location #1: 1,520 feet North of Mettler Road; Location #2: 1,700 feet South of Harney Lane at Extension Road. See attached Vicinity Map.
Project Justification:
This project will repair/modify concrete within the Lower Sacramento Bike Lane Safety project limits, so that it will not interfere with bike lane striping taking place next spring.
Scope of Work:
The project will consist of:
1. Removing and replacing two large PCC panels in the median that have heaved up over time at Location #1.
2. Modifying pork chop island at Extension Road to accommodate future bike lane at Location #2.
Environmental Setting:
In these portions of the San Joaquin County, land usage is primarily rural with single family homes.
There are many large trees adjacent to the project area. Nesting and migratory birds, protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, may nest within these trees. Furthermore, the Swainson’s Hawk, a raptor species of concern within the State of California and listed as threatened may nest adjacent to or within the project area. A pre-construction survey for nesting Swainson’s Hawks and other migratory birds is recommended if construction is scheduled to occur from February 15th to September 1st.
Beneficiaries:
The public will see increased safety and fewer hazards with this well-maintained concrete. Overall, there will be reduced maintenance concerns and more reliability within the project area.
