Document Description
Caltrans proposes repairing slip outs near Pocket Canyon on eastbound SR-116 in Sonoma County at post mile 15.40. The slip outs occurred during a large storm event, which caused erosion and displacement of soil, and led to instability and collapse of the roadway embankment. There is also a tree stump lodged at the southern edge of the creek path, which has undermined the toe of slope below the roadway. A 35-foot-long interlocking sheet pile wall will be installed nine feet outside of the fog line. The height of the sheet pile wall will be about 35-feet, including the embankment depth. The tope of the wall will be flush with the slope embankment. The area behind the sheet pile wall will be backfilled with cellular concrete non-standard special provision. Imported borrow will be placed over the cellular concrete and compacted to a minimum of 90% relative compaction. Cable railing will be constructed to protect pedestrians. Traffic control will be required during construction activities. A biological monitor will be present for all construction activities.
