Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to repair fire damages that occurred to the Garwood Bridge (Bridge No. 29 - 0050) that crosses the San Joaquin River on State Route (SR) 4 at Postmile (PM)14.15 in San Joaquin County. The scope of work includes realigning the Metal Beam Bridge Rail (MBBR) at Pier 3, repairing or replacing the distorted metal sidewalk between Abutment 1 and Panel Point 2, repairing or replacing support brackets between Stringers 4 and 5 and Floor Beam 2 in Span 1, patching shallow spalls on the face of Abutment 1 caused by fire damage, and painting additional bridge areas previously inaccessible, including parts of the diaphragm and girders. The purpose of the project is to address the structural damage caused by the fire to Garwood Bridge. The need of this project is to prevent and mitigate the loss or impairment of life, property, or essential public services.
