Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-TEH-60428-R1, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The project is limited to the repair of a 12-inch natural gas transmission pipeline within the banks of Long Gulch Creek. Design plans have been developed for each project component. Channel flows have contributed to streambank erosion and therefore the banks will need to be reinforced to prevent further erosion or any additional damage to the exposed pipe (L-177A). The project requires fully exposing the pipeline for a visual inspection and repairing and recoating the pipe. In order to protect the pipeline from future erosion during high flow events, engineered backfill and rock slope protection (RSP) will be placed over the pipeline. Nine inch diameter RSP will be installed within the channel to restore cover at the northwest and southeast banks. RSP banks will be covered and re-vegetated using stockpiled topsoil with hydroseeding. The toe of the banks will be reinforced with buried RSP to prevent future erosion. Vehicle and equipment access will involve installation of a temporary timber mat bridge across an unnamed intermittent stream and the installation of a temporary equipment ramp to get down into the channel of Long Gulch Creek.
