Document Description
As part of the California Stream Gage Improvement Program, the California Department of Water Resources has executed a contract with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to reactivate and upgrade an existing stream gage on Tenmile Creek to record high-quality stream gage data and water temperature in real-time and make it available to the public on CDEC. A radar gage will be affixed to an existing bridge structure, while a data logger and associated equipment will be attached to a pipe installed on the bank, and staff gage placed within the stream channel.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed stream gage reactivation/upgrade would be installed to provide real-time data, monitor hydrologic conditions,and provide hydrologic data to the public. Proposed activities qualify for categorical exemptions: 15301 (Existing Facilities), 15304 (Minor Alterations to Land), and 15306 (Information Collection). The proposed stream gage activation will provide critical information in managing three listed salmon populations, while temporary impacts associated with the installation will not result in adverse impacts to sensitive plant or wildlife species, and no mature or scenic trees will be removed. Proposed activities will not result in a significant impact to the environment and none of the exceptions described in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
