Document Description
The El Dorado Irrigation District (District) proposes to relocate and replace two drinking water pressure reducing stations (PRS) located along Green Valley Road in El Dorado County. El Dorado County is realigning Green Valley Road as part of the Green Valley Road 2 Bridge Replacement Project, which requires the relocation and replacement of the District’s existing facilities. The new PRSs will be constructed within a new utility right-of-way adjacent to the realigned roadway.
The new PRS configuration will improve future serviceability by eliminating confined-space entry requirements, flooding, and corrosion issues associated with the current underground vault configuration. The project would consist of constructing two concrete pads measuring approximately 12 feet by 5 feet to support the station equipment. Each PRS would be housed in 10 feet by 4 feet metal enclosures painted in a neutral color. The new stations will be connected to the existing distribution mainlines by installing approximately 425 linear feet of new 8-inch and 12-inch piping. A new 3,000 square-foot asphalt driveway and pad will provide access to the stations. Additionally, a 380-foot security fence will enclose the facility for safety and security. The existing below grade vaults and associated pipelines will be abandoned in-place.
Construction activities include grading the new facility area, saw cutting existing roadways, excavating existing water lines and new alignment routes, installing new pipeline, pressure reducing valves, and equipment, backfilling and compacting excavated areas, installing new asphalt and curbs, and installing new fence perimeter. Water service will not be impacted during the proposed project activities.
The project is scheduled to occur in fall of 2025 and is estimated to occur over a six-month period during the normal business hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Construction equipment is anticipated to include the following: backhoe/excavator, dump truck, transfer truck, roller, compactor, boom truck, crew trucks, portable generator, and miscellaneous hand and power tools. Construction debris/material that is removed from the project area will follow all applicable regulatory requirements for disposal. All areas where ground disturbance occurs will be stabilized using appropriate best management practices for erosion control.
