Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to replace the existing bridge over the All-American Canal (canal) on State Route 186 (SR-186) between PM 0.5 and 2.0 in southeastern Imperial County, California. The proposed new bridge would be a 580-foot-long segmental concrete bridge structure, crossing the canal just north of the existing bridge location. SR-186 would be realigned to meet the new bridge abutments on each end of the bridge. The bridge would include two 12-foot-wide lanes, one lane for each direction of travel, with eight-foot-wide shoulders and six-foot wide sidewalks. Tubular railing would be installed atop concrete barrier located along both sides of the bridge. SR-186 would be realigned to meet the new bridge abutments, beginning south of the bridge at post mile 0.5 and terminate north of the bridge at the intersection of SR-186 with Interstate 8 (I-8) at post mile 2.0. The work would also include drainage, landscaping, right-of-way easements, utility relocation and preservation of environmentally sensitive areas. The total length of the project would be approximately 1.5 miles.
