Document Description
The proposed project includes various improvements identified in the District’s Mira Costa High School Facilities Master Plan (FMP), including reconstruction of the library; renovation of classroom buildings, the swimming pool, the multipurpose room (MPR), and food service building; installation of two e-bike parking areas; and athletic field lighting improvements. The athletic lighting component would replace existing field lights at the Waller Football Stadium in the northeast quadrant of the campus and install new field lights at the West Field in the northwest quadrant of the campus and at the softball/baseball fields in the southwest quadrant of the campus. The project site encompasses the entire 37-acre Mira Costa High School campus. The proposed project would not increase student enrollment or the capacity of the athletic facilities or main campus and would not include improvements to the athletic fields beyond the proposed field lighting. The proposed project would not result in significant changes to athletic programming but would allow existing practice activities to continue into evening hours. Practice activities would conclude by 9:00 p.m., and all field lighting would be controlled by automatic timers that would shut off by 10:00 p.m.
