Document Description
Frontier Communications is proposing to install approximately 4,350 linear feet of fiber optic cable within the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) right-of-way along State Route (SR) 89, near Greenville, in Plumas County between post miles (PM) 20.042 to 21.134. The project begins approximately 135 feet east of the intersection of SR 89 and Hot Springs Drive, at an existing handhole located in in the westbound shoulder of Hot Springs Drive near PM 20.07. The placement continues north along SR 89 from PM 20.07 to 21.13. The proposed overhead fiber optic cable will be lashed onto proposed poles and existing pole. The proposed underground fiber optic cable will be placed inside existing duct.
Equipment to be used for the construction of the cable includes: an auger truck, backhoe, and a truck and trailer for placing and splicing cable. Construction would be staged from the travel lanes and sidewalk which would require a reversible lane closure and temporary sidewalk closure of SR 89. Ground disturbances will occur at seven (7) proposed poles, seven (7) guy anchors and one (1) staging area. The total soil disturbance is 4,714 square feet or 0.11 acres.
Caltrans will issue an encroachment permit (0224-6UC-0118) to allow the proposed improvements to occur within the right-of-way of SR 3.
