Document Description
Caltrans proposes ramp pavement rehabilitation by removing 0.2 feet of existing asphalt and replacing it with 0.2 feet of Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt (RHMA) on the southbound I-5 Aliso Creek Rest Area Onramp at postmile R59.8 in San Diego County. Ramp pavement rehabilitation is necessary to improve traffic safety on this damaged onramp. All work will be performed within the existing ramp pavement and within Caltrans right-of-way. Temporary staging for a maximum of four days may occur in the rest area using Best Management Practices (BMPs) such as plastic tarps. There is a paved service area within the rest area where equipment may be staged if necessary. Work will include grinding of existing pavement, tack coating, paving with RHMA, fog seal, dike installation, striping, installation of pavement markers, and temporary traffic control according to 2024 Standard Plans and Standard Specifications. No alteration of vegetation, slope, or drainage systems is anticipated to occur because of the ramp pavement rehabilitation.
