Document Description
The Project consists of the demolition and replacement of two existing water storage reservoirs to meet current seismic and structural requirements. Reservoir No. 1, an existing 3-million-gallon (MG) tank, would be replaced with a 4-MG tank, and Reservoir No. 2, an existing 1-MG tank, would be replaced with a new 1-MG tank. In addition, the City would remove the existing Reservoir Nos. 3 and 4 (which have a combined capacity of 1.375 MG) from service but would leave them in place. Overall, the project would not result in a net increase in the City’s water storage capacity.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project involves the replacement of two existing water storage reservoirs on the same site as the existing reservoirs, and there would be no expansion of the City’s overall water storage capacity. The replacement reservoirs would have substantially the same purpose as the existing reservoirs and would continue to provide potable water storage for the City’s water system. In addition, none of the exceptions outlined in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the proposed project.
